The road to WrestleMania makes a stop in Houston, Texas for the Elimination Chamber pay per view. A unique card, that will showcase two elimination chamber matches. One is for the WWE championship held by “The New” Daniel Bryan, and the other is a six team women’s match to crown the first ever WWE women’s tag team champions. I have taken a look at the card and have made up my mind on how I think things will unfold.
Braun Strowman vs Baron Corbin
It was announced late Wednesday that this match will now be a no disqualification match and I think that is to the benefit of Baron Corbin. It should be noted that Drew McIntyre does not have a match at Elimination Chamber, and will probably get involved somehow. Despite his involvement, I feel like Strowman will find a way to win, probably with a little help from Kurt Angle.
GoHomePWB.com Pick: Braun Strowman
Cruiserweight Championship Match
Current champion Buddy Murphy will defend his championship against Akira Tozawa in a one on one contest. I don’t think there is anyway Murphy drops this title before WrestleMania. I was skeptical of him as champion, but he has been carrying 205 Live and the entire division with ease. It will be a great match, but Murphy will retain.
GoHomePWB.com Pick: Buddy Murphy
Smackdown Tag Team Championship Match
Newly crowned champions The Miz and Shane McMahon, will put their titles on the line against tag team legends Jimmy and Jey Uso. I am torn on this one. I personally want to see the Uso’s win and then take on The Revival at WrestleMania to unify the tag team championship. It’s highly unlikely that happens, but with that said I also believe that The Miz and McMahon will go one on one at WrestleMania.
I am just not sure if the team breaks up at Elimination Chamber or Fastlane. I personally think it’s a little early to break up the team, but if you’re going to drop the tag team titles, why not put the belts on The Uso’s? But if I am betting a dollar, I think The Miz and McMahon find a way to win and keep their tag title run going until Fastlane.
GoHomePWB.com Pick: The Miz and Shane McMahon
Intercontinental Championship Match
The very slow push of Finn Balor continues this Sunday when he challenges intercontinental champion Bobby Lashley and his manager/mouth piece Lio Rush in a handicap match. I would like to see Balor win, and honestly adding Lio Rush to the match gives Lashley a reason to lose and still look strong. I don’t think Lashley needs the title, and since Rollins dropped the belt late last year, it has lost some value in my opinion.
I think that once Dean Ambrose notified WWE that he was not going to re-sign with the company, the WWE put the belt on someone else very quick. I think if Balor had the title it would be a boost to the title. Balor wrestles every week, he is over with the fans and would make a great intercontinental champion. So, my upset pick of the Elimination Chamber will be Balor over Lashley and Rush.

RAW Women’s Championship Match
Champion Ronda Rousey will put her title on the line against Ruby Riott, in what most fans are calling a throw away match. I am not so quick to say that. Don’t get me wrong, there is no way Riott wins this match, but I think we may be in for a show stealer here. Charlotte Flair has already said she will be at ringside for the match.
This match actually intrigues me, if it were a match on RAW I think it would be a quick win for Rousey. I have a feeling, that Charlotte, Becky Lynch and even the “missing” Asuka may get involved. Ruby Riott is an under rated wrestler and can bring the fight to Rousey, and with all the distractions around ring side, I wouldn’t be totally surprised if Riott wins.
Riott winning would certainly throw a wrench in the WrestleMania main event plans. Like I said, I don’t believe Riott wins, but I think it’s going to be a great match with a few surprises, and a ton of false finishes. I think the Houston crowd will be firmly behind Riott and a great match will rise her stock, but officially, Rousey is my pick.
GoHomePWB.com Pick: Ronda Rousey
Women’s Tag Team Championship Match
One of two elimination chamber matches will be a six team women’s division match for the brand new women’s tag team championship. Sasha Banks and Bayley, Liv Morgan and Sarah Logan, Nia Jax and Tamina, Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville, Naomi and Carmella and Billie Kay and Peyton Royce will all step in the chamber with the hopes of being the first ever womens tag team champions.
I think we will see some high spots from several women in this match, and my hope is that the titles go on a team such as the IIconics or the Riott Squad. A true tag team is the best way to crown the inaugural champs in my opinion. My gut is saying Nia Jax and Tamina or Sasha and Bayley, but with Sasha’s recent injury, I am not sure they are going to put the belts on them.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville win, because the WWE is very high on Mandy Rose right now. This one is a tough one, I would say look for Carmella and Naomi to be eliminated early, as well as the IIconics. Tamina is the weak link with her team and I could see her taking the pin and loss.
The more I think about it the more I like Sasha and Bayley to win it. They have been letting Sasha take it easy for the past few weeks, and maybe come Elimination Chamber she will be fully healed and put on a performance suited for a tag team championship. The final teams will be Sasha and Bayley and the Riott Squad with The Boss n Hug connection winning it.
GoHomPWB.com pick: Sasha Banks and Bayley
WWE Championship match
The second elimination chamber match will be for the WWE championship currently held by “The New” Daniel Bryan. He will put the title on the line against five of Smackdown’s top stars. AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Jeff Hardy, Kofi Kingston and Randy Orton. This is going to be a good one, I can see Kofi doing something crazy, but I really don’t think he is going to win it.
It’s worth noting that his sixty minutes in the ring Tuesday night was very impressive and he may be the fans choice to win. I think he and Jeff Hardy will crash and burn hard and cause them to be eliminated fairly early. I could see Samoa Joe getting teamed up on and being put out of the match, leaving AJ Styles, Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan.
I really think AJ Styles run as champion is over for a while and I think he will get hit with another RKO and be eliminated by Randy Orton. So the final two in the match will be Daniel Bryan and Randy Orton. The hatred that “The New” Daniel Bryan can incite, leads me to believe there is no way he is cooled off and looses the title. Look for Rowan to get involved somehow to help Bryan win and retain.
GoHomePWB.com pick: Daniel Bryan
I had one of my worst pay per view predictions last month for the Royal Rumble, but I feel like I will bounce back for Elimination Chamber. I feel like there is really no need for pay per views between the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania. It only helps build the storylines for big pay off matches at WrestleMania.
But for the matches not already announced, Elimination Chamber and Fastlane gives the opportunity to start new angles. I would say watch for surprises Sunday during the Rousey vs Riott match and the WWE Title elimination chamber match. Perhaps somebody gets taken out and replaced before the match starts? I guess we will have to watch and see.
Thanks for checking out GoHomePWB.com for Elimination Chamber predictions. Be sure to check out the Elimination Chamber review on Monday and see how close my predictions are. Have a great weekend!!
