A couple ok shows this week as RAW and Smackdown were in the state of Pennsylvania this week. RAW took place from Philadelphia and Smackdown was live from Wilkes-Barre. In my opinion RAW was a better show this week with the reunion of The Shield and Ronda Rousey’s heel turn. Smackdown was highlighted by a really good fatal four way match for the United States championship. A interesting top ten this week, so let’s get to it.
10. Kevin Owens
Kevin Owens barely cracked the top ten this week, but at least we know that he is a baby face. I was leaning towards him being a face after he had adopted the use of the stunner. I always thought Owens would make a great baby face because he is witty on the mic and has a great move set. It should be a great match between him and Daniel Bryan this Sunday at Fastlane.
9. Natalya
Long time WWE veteran Natalya has cracked the top ten this week with a big win over long time rival Ruby Riott. Sarah Logan and Liv Morgan were at ringside, but it didn’t help as Natalya was focused on getting the win. After the match Lacey Evans walked up and down the ramp eyeing the victorious Natalya. It would appear that Natalya will soon beginning a storyline with new comer Lacey Evans.
8. Elias
Elias was able to get a clean win over Dean Ambrose on RAW Monday night. Earlier in the show as Dean Ambrose was about to address a possible Shield reunion, Elias hit Ambrose in the back with a guitar. I like heel Elias a lot more than I do baby face Elias, and I hope he can start winning more matches and contend for a championship soon.
7. Bobby Lashley
Bobby Lashley was able to pick up a much needed pin fall victory over the current intercontental champion, Finn Balor. The loss knocked Balor out of the top ten for the first time in over six weeks. Lashley gained some momentum on the road to WrestleMania, where it looks as if he will challenge for the intercontental championship.
6. The Miz
First let me say, I don’t really like The Miz as a good guy, but he did pick up a win over Jey Uso. The win gives he and tag team partner Shane McMahon some momentum headed into their tag team title match at Fastlane. Something is equivocal about this pairing and I wouldn’t be surprised to see The Miz or Shane turn on one another.
5. Mandy Rose
Mandy Rose stock keeps going up, and as soon as her in ring ability catches up with her looks, she will be a women’s champion for a very long time. Last night on Smackdown she picked up a decisive victory over bitter rival Naomi. Rose will challenge for the Smackdown women’s championship at Fastlane. Check out GoHomePWB.com Friday for my predictions.
4. Ricochet & Aleister Black
Ricochet and Aleister Black have proven themselves as a formidable tag team, beating the likes of The Revival and The Bar. I wouldn’t have figured these two as a tag team because of their singles success in NXT, but a tag team is a great way to start their main roster careers and showcase their very impressive move set.
3. The Shield
The good news is … The Shield is back! The bad news … this all but confirms that Dean Ambrose is indeed leaving the WWE. But, I said last week that I would be up for one more Shield match, and it looks like that is what we will get at Fastlane. In my opinion The Shield is the best faction in WWE since Evolution.
2. Ronda Rousey
Ronda Rousey isn’t playing games anymore, and I absolutely love it. She is finally embracing the heel role, the she was custom made for. I think this will do wonders for her wrestling career. Monday night was a perfect example as she had the best promo of her short pro wrestling career and beat the bricks off of the most popular wrestler in the company. This heel turn for Rousey is long over due and much needed for her.
1. Samoa Joe
Samoa Joe as the United States champion is exactly what the title needed. Joe brings legitimacy back to the lackluster title and I hope he keeps it for a long time. Don’t get me wrong R-Truth was an entertaining champion, but the U.S. title has been longing for a fighting champion to hold it. And with Samoa Joe… it’s in good hands.
That’s it for this week, be sure to check back on Friday for my official Fastlane predictions, and as always thanks for checking out GoHomePWB.com, the people’s wrestling blog!
