WWE March Madness, Second Round Part One

We have finally made it to the second round of the GoHomePWB.com WWE March madness tournament.  Today I will look at the match ups and pick the first half of the sweet sixteen.  The match ups are getting better and harder to choose.  Let’s take a look and see how these match ups work out.

Becky Lynch vs Rusev

Overall number one seed Becky Lynch meets eight seed Rusev in this second round match up.  Based on their current status in WWE, no way Rusev pulls off the upset.  I like Becky Lynch in this one and pick her to be the first wrestler into the sweet sixteen.

Mustafa Ali vs John Cena

Mustafa Ali found himself in the second round after an upset win over Jeff Hardy.  Unfortunately, the clock strikes midnight on this Cinderella, as he meets up with John Cena.  I think this match is a battle at first, but John Cena prevails easily after a rough start.

Dolph Ziggler vs Samoa Joe

Six months ago, I would have loved to see this match.  Currently Dolph Ziggler is on hiatus and Samoa Joe, even though he’s the United States champion, has been on a bit of a losing streak.  As big of fan of Ziggler as I am, if I am being honest, I think Samoa Joe wins this match and moves on.

Cesaro vs AJ Styles

Another great match up, but I don’t think there is anyway Cesaro beats AJ Styles in a one on one match up.  But, if Sheamus were to get involved, its possible Cesaro gets an upset victory.  However, no Sheamus and no outside interference.  AJ Styles wins clean in a very physical match up.

Brock Lesnar vs Andrade

Rumor has it, the powers that be are very high on Andrade.  Not nearly as high as they are on Brock Lesnar, but they like the guy.  I am going out on a big limb here, but I feel like Brock Lesnar is just about done with the WWE and Andrade is being coined as the ‘new Eddie Guerrero’.  Eddie was able to beat Lesnar for a WWE championship and I like Andrade to pick up an upset victory over Lesnar via quick pinfall.

Drew McIntyre vs Kevin Owens

Another great match up that I would love to see is Drew McIntyre vs Kevin Owens.  Both men are in pretty good shape currently and are being used properly.  However, I don’t think there is any reason to doubt that McIntyre would win this match.  I do think he would utilize heel tactics, but he would pick up the win nonetheless.

Kofi Kingston vs Asuka

Asuka got a pass in the first round with a match up against EC3, but no pass this time.  As a matter of fact if I am taking both wrestlers current situation into account, Kofi Kingston wins easily after a trouble in paradise finisher.

Ricochet vs Braun Strowman

The one and only Ricochet will take on the monster among men, Braun Strowman.  I think there is a mutual respect for each other in this one, and I think Ricochet puts up a good fight, but in the end, his high-flying offense is no match for Strowman’s strength.  Strowman wins with a running powerslam.

Half of the sweet sixteen are picked.  Check back tomorrow for the second half.  And as always thanks for checking out GoHomePWB.com, the people’s wrestling blog!
