It is being billed as a WrestleMania like pay per view, and I suppose if the prince of a country is paying you millions of dollars for your product, you probably want to put on a big show. I wouldn’t expect to many surprises today, but I would expect a good show. I personally am glad to see Dolph Ziggler on the card, but I would be lying to you if I said I wasn’t looking forward to Goldberg and Undertaker.
I will admit, seeing this match twenty years ago would have been better, but as the old saying goes, “better late, than never.” I would expect some legends to appear in the fifty man battle royal and I look for Shane McMahon to take a beating from Roman Reigns. My overall prediction record stands at 76-40 and I think I can get to one hundred correct picks before I get fifty wrong. So, let’s take a look at the card and make some picks, shall we?
Lars Sullivan vs The Lucha House Party
I really don’t care for this match much because it’s going to make the Lucha House Party look weak and everyone already know Lars Sullivan is a freak. I think this match will be quick with the Lucha House Party getting an early offensive flurry, but Sullivan will overcome and eventually squash the Lucha cruiser-weights.
Ryan’s Pick: Lars Sullivan
Braun Strowman vs Bobby Lashley
This match has me more intrigued than it probably should. I like that both these guys are huge, muscular and athletic. I think this will be a physical match and it would be nice to see Bobby Lashley get going. He hasn’t really lived up to his hype since returning last year and I really don’t think this match will help. I look for Braun Strowman to win, but not easily.
Ryan’s Pick: Braun Strowman
Fifty Man Battle Royal
I am pretty much conceding victory in this one. It’s almost impossible to pick a winner considering I have no idea who is in the match. For some reason, the Big Show keeps coming to mind but I’m not even sure he is able to wrestle. It could be Kane, Shawn Michaels or some other legend. As much as I would like to see something like that, I will draw a name out of a hat and say … R-Truth wins.
Ryan’s Pick: R-Truth
Intercontinental Championship Match
I look for this one to steal the show today as Andrade gets a shot at the intercontinental championship. The only problem for Andrade is that he’s not facing Finn Balor, but Balor’s alter ego, “The Demon”. I am pretty sure when “demon” Finn Balor comes out, he never loses, and this match will be no different.
Ryan’s Pick: Finn Balor
Roman Reigns versus Shane McMahon
Shane McMahon is a great heel isn’t he? He could very well be the new Vince McMahon if WWE were to recreate the attitude era, like it’s been rumored. I wouldn’t expect a great match from these guys, but I would expect Shane to take a lot of bumps. I think Drew McIntyre gets involved, but it won’t be enough to help Shane win. I like Roman Reigns to overcome the odds and find a way to win.
Ryan’s Pick: Roman Reigns
WWE Championship Match
Did I mention that I was glad to see Dolph Ziggler back? If I didn’t, then yes I am glad he’s back. Unfortunately, I think it’s only in a filler position. Kevin Owens is not making the trip to Saudi Arabia and that’s why Ziggler is in. I think this match will be really, really good because… it’s Ziggler and Kofi Kingston. No way Ziggler wins, but I am still glad he’s back.
Ryan’s Pick: Kofi Kingston
Triple H versus Randy Orton
Another match that I am looking forward to is Triple H and Randy Orton. I look for this one to be a classic as these two have been “frenemies” for almost two decades. I’m honestly not sure who to pick in this one, but I look for both men to hit all their classic moves with the exception of Orton’s punt to the head. So a coin flip will decide it …(flipping coin) … and it’s an RKO out of nowhere.
Ryan’s Pick: Randy Orton
Universal Championship Match
Ugh, I really don’t like Baron Corbin. I know I’ve said it before if you don’t like him hen he’s doing his job as a heel. But I kind of want to change the channel when he’s on. So it’s a different kind of dislike. No way he beats Seth Rollins, but the real question is will Brock Lesnar cash in his money in the bank briefcase? I say no, but he will show up.
Ryan’s Pick: Seth Rollins
Goldberg versus Undertaker
I really don’t know what to expect in this one. I don’t think either guy can wrestle for very long as both are in their fifties. Goldberg hasn’t wrestled in over two years and Undertaker seems to be able to do less and less each time he wrestles. I think there will be a lot of fighting outside the ring and a lot of striking moves. If I’m betting a dollar, I would put my money on the Undertaker.
Ryan’s Pick: Undertaker
I hope this show lives up to the “WrestleMania like card” and delivers. A pay per view on a late Friday afternoon… why not? I won’t be able to watch it until late Friday, but I will have a review and predictions results blog on Saturday morning. Enjoy the show and thanks for checking out GoHomePWB.com, the people’s wrestling blog!
