WWE Extreme Rules Predictions

My day job is making it increasingly hard to attend to this blog, but after a sixteen hour day, here I sit to work on what I am really passionate about … pro wrestling. This Sunday WWE will go “extreme” and I am here once again to make my picks for the hardcore pay per view. My overall pay per view record stands at eighty eight correct picks and forty six wrong. I think I have a good idea as to what will go down this Sunday, so forgive me for being vainglorious, but stop reading if you don’t like spoilers.

Cruiserweight Championship Match

Drew Gulak just won the championship last month at Stomping Grounds and he will give former champion Tony Nese a rematch for the purple strap. I look for the cruiserweights to put on a great match per usual, but in the end, I predict Gulak to win and retain.

Ryan’s Pick: Drew Gulak

Aleister Black versus Cesaro

After months of vignettes Aleister Black will have a match on tv. His opponent is the underutilized and underrated Cesaro. I am not sure who is to play the heel in this match, but I think Black will be the one getting booed at the end of the match. Not only will he be getting booed, he will be getting his hand raised in victory.

Ryan’s Pick: Aleister Black

Smackdown Tag Team Championship Match

Current champions Daniel Bryan and Rowan will put the titles on the line in a triple threat tag match against Heavy Machinery and Big E and Xavier Woods of the New Day. I don’t really like Daniel Bryan as a tag team guy, but I don’t think he and Rowan are dropping the belts just yet. I look for them to win after what should be an entertaining match.

Ryan’s Pick: Daniel Bryan and Rowan

RAW Tag Team Championship Match

This match could steal the show if given enough time. Current champions The Revival will put the titles on the line against The Uso’s. I’m torn on this one because I like both teams, and both deserve to be tag team champions. But if I’m betting a dollar, I think The Revival find a way to win and retain their titles.

Ryan’s Pick: The Revival

Smackdown Women’s Championship Match

The odds are stacked against current Smackdown women’s champion, Bayley. She puts her title on the line in a two on one handicap match against Nikki Cross and Alexa Bliss. This one could get wonky, but I think Bayley drops the belt in this one. I also think Nikki Cross pins Bayley, setting up a storyline rivalry between Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross.

Ryan’s Pick: Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross

Braun Strowman versus Bobby Lashley

These two monsters have had quite a physical rivalry brewing in recent weeks. They even had a memorable moment a couple weeks on RAW when Strowman slammed Lashley through the LED entrance wall setting off multiple explosions. This will be another very physical match, and I think Bobby Lashley will be the one unable to get up after a ten count.

Ryan’s Pick: Braun Strowman

United States Championship Match

Current United States champion Ricochet will put his title on the line against AJ Styles in what should be a phenomenal match, pun intended. I believe it will go back and forth with some very physical offense. I also think Gallows and Anderson will get involved and cause Styles to get disqualified, but they once again get the better of Ricochet.

Ryan’s Pick: Ricochet

Roman Reigns and Undertaker versus Shane McMahon and Drew McIntyre

Anyone else happy to see the Undertaker get another match after the abysmal match against Goldberg? I know I am, and I think he will have a dominant performance. I don’t think there is any question that Roman Reigns and Undertaker get the dub in this match.

Ryan’s Pick: Roman Reigns and Undertaker

WWE Championship Match

Kofi Kingston will put his WWE title on the line against Samoa Joe. I just don’t care for this match, I don’t think there is anyway Samoa Joe wins, yet I’m very surprised Kofi Kingston has held the title for this long. I’m thinking Kingston wins, but then Brock Lesnar cashes in and takes the WWE title from Kofi.

Ryan’s Pick: Kofi Kingston

Winners Take All Match

Universal champion Seth Rollins and RAW women’s champion Becky Lynch put their titles in the line in a winner take all inter-gender tag team match against Lacey Evans and Baron Corbin. Nobody wants to see Baron Corbin as champion and I don’t think we are going to. I look for Lynch and Rollins to win and send the crowd home happy.

Ryan’s Pick: Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch

The picks are in and I hope there are some surprises Sunday, but I’m not expecting it. I am however, expecting some great matches, not only at Extreme Rules, but also Saturday as WWE airs Evolve on the network. Should be a good weekend for WWE fans. Be sure to check out Extreme Rules results on Monday and always thanks for checking out today’s blog!
