Crown Jewel Predictions

Love it or hate it WWE will be airing Crown Jewel from Saudi Arabia today starting at noon eastern time.  I think it will be a quicker show than what we saw the last time WWE was in Saudi Arabia.  I believe that most in WWE are kind of in a let’s just get it over with state of mind.  Saudi Arabia is not on everyone’s good side to say the least.  Including John Cena and Daniel Bryan who have told WWE they will not go and perform.  I will be watching today at noon and have my predictions ready.  Since starting this blog, my pay per view prediction record is 11-6.  I am confident I will add a few more wins today.  So, let’s take a look at the matches.

The Bar (c) vs The New Day for the Smackdown tag team championship

This has been a growing rivalry over the past month or so, with The Bar winning the tag team titles at Smackdown 1000.  The Bar has recently enlisted the services of The Big Show to even the odds between the two teams.  On Smackdown Tuesday night, Big E picked up the win in the trick or street fight match, which leads me to believe that The Bar will get the better of The New Day.  The New Day is a team that doesn’t really need the tag team titles, they are over as a tag team with or without the straps.  I think after Crown Jewel we will see a rivalry start between The Bar and The Uso’s.  The Uso’s have been getting some big tag team wins lately and I look for the them to be put in the title picture very soon.  So officially my prediction is for The Bar to retain. pick:  The Bar

AJ Styles (c) vs Samoa Joe for the WWE Championship

With Daniel Bryan refusing to go to Saudi Arabia for Crown Jewel, he was given his WWE championship match Tuesday on Smackdown Live.  Bryan obviously lost, so insert Samoa Joe.  Just when you thought this rivalry was over, like always in WWE, never say never.  I don’ t see Joe winning this match, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he did.  Survivor Series is a couple of weeks away and typically both RAW champion and Smackdown champion go head to head.  Last year we saw AJ vs Brock Lesnar, and it’s a good possibility we see it again.  I think AJ will be at Survivor Series as WWE Champion, so he will be my pick to win today. pick:  AJ Styles

Brock Lesnar vs Braun Strowman for the Universal Championship

This is a tough pick for me because prior to Roman Reigns illness, I was going to pick him to win the match.  I am not sure which way WWE will go here.  If it wasn’t for the heel run from Strowman recently, it would have been easy to go with Strowman.  We know that Lesnar will be competing in UFC very soon.  There is a part of me that thinks Vince McMahon would like to see his title on UFC television, but at the same time I don’t know if he would trust Brock to do the right thing.  Plus if Brock were to lose his UFC fight, it would hurt the credibility of the Universal championship.  Brock was able to get the better of Braun on RAW last week, but I think this will be a case where WWE goes against their mantra of fifty-fifty booking.  I look for Lesnar to win and keep the Universal title until Wrestlemania.  Strowman needs more time to get his popularity back to where it was prior to the heel turn.  So in not an upset pick, but more of a surprising pick, I am going with Lesnar. pick:  Brock Lesnar

DX vs Brothers of Destruction

This match is probably the biggest reason I am watching Crown Jewel.  I think we can all agree that it will be great to see Shawn Michaels in the ring again.  I think we will see all the classics from everyone in the match and since Triple H won at Super Show-Down and DX got the better of Undertaker on RAW, I feel like the Brothers of Destrucion will win today.  But I think DX is more over than Kane and Undertaker.  I think Kane is the weakest link in this match and will somehow be the man who gets pinned in the match.  So I will be going against everything that tells me Kane and Undertaker will win and pick DX. pick:  DX

World Cup Tournament

I was a little more interested in the tournament when John Cena was involved, but I am still looking forward to it.  When John Cena and Kurt Angle were first announced I really thought that a lot of legends were going to be in the tournament.  Although not the case, it is still a star-studded field.  So let’s take a look at the RAW side first.  Kurt Angle vs Dolph Ziggler will be a good match, but I would be surprised if Ziggler wins.  However I would love to see it.  They have enough nostalgia with DX, Kane and the Undertaker that I think Kurt Angle would be respected win or lose the match.  So my upset pick of the night will be Ziggler over Angle. pick:  Dolph Ziggler

The other first round RAW match is Seth Rollins vs Bobby Lashley.  Lashley was a late addition to replace John Cena.  I originally would have had Cena vs Angle in the second round, but now I think Ziggler and Rollins will be the match to watch for in the second round.  They have proven they could put on great matches and I know I would watch it one more time, as I expect to. pick: Seth Rollins

Ziggler vs Rollins in the finals of the RAW side.  Unless we see some type of interference from Dean Ambrose, Rollins will win.  I don’t think we will see that in Saudi Arabia, because I am not sure what fans would think of something like that.  I feel like most, if not all matches will be a clean finish.  So with a clean finish, I have to go with Rollins. pick: Seth Rollins

Now let’s look at the Smackdown side of things.  I am surprised at the first round matches because I would have thought Orton and Mysterio would be in the finals of the Smackdown side.  But that is not the case and Mysterio and Orton will meet in the first round.  A tough pick, but Orton has been on a major push lately and I would be totally surprised if he lost in the first round.  Unlike my RAW upset pick of Ziggler, I think I will play it safe and go with Orton over Rey in this one. pick:  Randy Orton

The other first round match is Jeff Hardy vs The Miz.  The Miz is great on the mic, but has a hard time picking up wins.  I don’t think there will be any change here.  I look for The Miz and Hardy to have a great match but for Hardy to win.  I would not be surprised if Hardy picks up a kayfabe injury in the match that carries over into the second round match with Orton.  But I believe Hardy wins and gets a grudge match with Orton in the second round. pick: Jeff Hardy

Randy Orton vs Jeff Hardy in the second round will be another great one.  I am not sure what to think here, because every time Orton and Hardy wrestle, Orton gets the win.  I would love to see Rollins vs Hardy in the finals.  However, after Shane McMahon told his wrestlers that if they lost in the finals they would be fired from Smackdown.  That immediately let me know who I thought we would see in the finals and that is the viper Randy Orton.  I think Orton will exploit the kayfabe injury Hardy received in his first round match, thus giving Orton an easy win. pick: Randy Orton

The finals of the World Cup Tournament will be Seth Rollins vs Randy Orton in my opinion.  I think it will be a relatively short match, because we had already seen these men wrestle in two prior matches.  Shane McMahon gave me a spoiler with his firing comment on Smackdown.  I don’t think Orton will lose, and as a matter a fact I think he will go after AJ Styles WWE title after he wins the World Cup. pick: Randy Orton

I hope this show is a good one.  There have been a lot of distractions with the tragedy a few weeks ago, and I hope WWE isn’t just going through the motions here.  Let’s hope everything goes smoothly and everyone get’s back safe.

Thanks for checking out for my predictions and enjoy the show later today.  Monday morning will be my Crown Jewel review and an updated prediction record.  Have a great weekend! Weekly top ten

With Evolution on Sunday night, I have decided that several of the women from that night should and have made the list.  RAW sucked this week, so it was a little difficult to get to ten, but I did.  So let’s get to it.

10. Toni Storm

Toni Storm battled Io Shirai in the finals of the Mae Young Classic on Sunday at Evolution.  It was my favorite match of the pay per view, and I look for Toni Storm to have a big future in WWE.  She had to use two finishers to beat Shirai, but it was an impressive match and win for her.

9. Nia Jax

Nia Jax was able to win the battle royal at Evolution and even picked up a win on Monday night RAW.  I am not a fan of Nia Jax as a baby face, but you can’t deny the roll she is on.

8. Finn Balor

Finn Balor is finally back in relevant storylines.  For the second week in a row, he was able to pick up a win over Bobby Lashley.  Although this time it was via dis qualification, but a win is a win.

7. Shinsuke Nakamura

Shinsuke Nakamura may have made the top ten for the first time since I started it.  A big title defense on Smackdown Live against R-Truth.  Let’s hope this leads to more storylines for Shinsuke and the U.S. title.

6. Natalya

For the first time ever Natalya has made my top ten.  She was part of the winning team Sunday night at Evolution, and made Alicia Fox tap out on RAW.  The ten woman tag was probably the best match on RAW Monday night, and it was great to see Natalya get the spotlight for a little bit.

5. Elias

Elias continued to impress Monday night, making fun of Baron Corbin and then defeating Jinder Mahal after he attacked him.  Elias is on the verge of Rock like popularity and I love it!  I look forward to seeing Elias every Monday night, and am looking forward to his baby face run.

4. Brock Lesnar

Brock Lesnar returned Monday Night and looked strong by putting Strowman in an F-5.  I am torn on the whether or not he will win Friday, but never count him out.

3. Ronda Rousey

Rhonda Rousey won her main event match against Nikki Bella Sunday Night in the first ever all women’s pay per view.  She puts on good matches for her skill level, I just don’t like the character.  But she is the RAW women’s champion and her win Sunday put her in the top three this week.

2. Becky Lynch

Becky Lynch is the man, just ask her.  A great win in one of the most hardcore matches I have ever seen put on by women.  She proved that she was better than Charlotte and she is making Rousey look bad verbally leading up to their match at Survivor Series.

1. AJ Styles

AJ Styles is the clear-cut number one this week.  A great win against Daniel Bryan on Smackdown Live Tuesday night, defending what is supposed to be the most prestigious championship in WWE.

Let me know what you think of this week’s top ten.  Check out tomorrow for my Crown Jewel predictions.  As always thanks for reading.

Smackdown Live Review

Thankfully Smackdown Live was an improvement from Monday night RAW the night before.  It started out with a “surprise” WWE title match.  We had some Halloween inspired matches, and a few good promos.  Atlanta, Georgia was the hosting city last night and the crowd was in for a treat.  So let’s dive into Smackdown Live last night.

AJ Styles vs Daniel Bryan for the WWE championship

In a little bit of a surprise, we got to see a Crown Jewel match last night.  It was made clear that Daniel Bryan refused to go to Saudi Arabia and compete at Crown Jewel.  I wondered what angle the writers would use to get him out of the match.  As soon as Smackdown Live started I got my answer.  I was glad to see that they didn’t scrap the match all together, because Daniel Bryan vs AJ Styles is a great match even if the title is not on the line.  So it is something most fans wanted to see.  I was also glad to see they put it on first.  This way there is no time constraints and we could see a lengthy match.  The match was really good, despite it being very predictable.  I don’t think anyone believed that Daniel Bryan was going to win last night.  Especially since he refused to go to Saudi Arabia for Crown Jewel.  I will be curious to see what, if any repercussions Bryan will face for the decision.

After AJ made Daniel Bryan tap using the calf crusher, the two wrestlers were shaking hands in a sign of sportsmanship.  Out of nowhere, Samoa Joe attacked AJ and Bryan.  Samoa Joe will now face AJ Styles at Crown Jewel, and I am not sure how this one will play out.  AJ has had the title for nearly a year, and Joe has been given chance after chance for the WWE title.  I really don’t foresee Joe winning it, but you will have to check out on Friday morning for my predictions.

Trick or street fight

The Brood took on The Bar in a trick or street fight last night.  I say The Brood, because The New Day was in costume last night and came to the ring with The Brood entrance music and goblet.  By the way, if you have not listened to or can’t remember The Brood’s entrance music, do yourself a favor and add it to your Halloween playlist.  I wish it was my ringtone.

So the match…it was to be expected from a trick or street fight.  Halloween themed weapons were used and wrestlers slammed on pumpkins.  Which actually looked a little painful, because they did not give way as intended.  An entertaining segment that saw Big E pick up the win.  Have I mentioned I love The Brood Music?

A U.S. title defense

Yes, believe it or not the U.S. title was on the line last night.  Shinsuke Nakamura went one on one with the male member of the Fabulous Truth.  R-Truth, who I did not expect to win, put on a great match.  The match went back and forth and even had a dance break at some point.  R-Truth was unsuccessful in winning the title last night, but it was great to see the title be defended.  Shinsuke needs a rival to bring back relevancy to him and the U.S. title.  A clean win for Nakamura, and it would appear as though it will be him and Seth Rollins at Survivor Series.

Becky Lynch is the man!

Becky Lynch had a brief promo last night touting her win at Evolution and now focusing on her match against Ronda Rousey at Survivor Series.  The match could go a lot of different avenues, and I don’t want to speculate just yet.  Next week, I will have a better idea on where I would like to see this go.  It was also noted that Smackdown Live general manager Paige, asked Charlotte to be the women’s team captain for survivor series.  Charlotte told Paige that she didn’t think she was the right woman for the job.  Curious to see where this is going as well.  I have a feeling that we may see a horsewoman vs horsewoman match, but I may be reaching a bit.  We will have to wait and see what happens over the next couple of weeks.

Main event tag match

The Miz and Randy Orton took on Jeff Hardy and Rey Mysterio last night in the main event.  These four men represent Smackdown Live in the World Cup at Crown Jewel.  The match was pretty good, and went back and forth, until Hardy and Mysterio picked up the win.  That was all topped off with Hardy, Mysterio and even The Miz all receiving RKO’s from Orton.

Before the match Shane McMahon made an off the cuff announcement that whoever makes it to the finals of the World Cup, if they lose, they will be fired from Smackdown Live.  That actually helped me make a decision as to who will win the World Cup, and I will let you know Friday morning.

Overall a great show.  Much better than RAW the night before.  I honestly can’t wait until Crown Jewel is over, because I am more excited about Survivor Series.  I think the consensus is that most in WWE are ready to get Crown Jewel over with as well.

Tomorrow is the weekly top ten and on Friday morning check out my predictions, prior to Crown Jewel starting at noon eastern.  As always thanks for reading.

RAW Review

The last Monday night RAW before Crown Jewel this Friday was…ok I guess.  I honestly had a hard time watching it thoroughly.  Honestly I fast forwarded most of the show.  About the only segment I watched all the way through was Rollins and Amborse, which clearly is going to be a slow build.  But we will get into that a little later, there were some interesting segments, but over all a “meh” from me.

Finn Balor wins again

Finn Balor went one on one with Bobby Lashley for the second week in a row, and was able to pick up a victory via dis qualification.  Lio Rush interjected himself in the match and knocked Balor off the top rope before he could hit his finisher.  Lashley then went on to beat up Balor pretty bad, with Rush slapping Balor across the face several times.  So after losing the match, acting general manager Baron Corbin awarded Lashley, John Cena’s spot in the World Cup tournament.

John Cena officially out of Crown Jewel

It has been reported that John Cena was no longer interested in going to Saudi Arabia to perform at Crown Jewel, and it was made official last night when Bobby Lashley was put in the World Cup tournament as his replacement.  Cena has been vocal about not going once the tragedy occurred several weeks ago.  WWE didn’t even announce they were going until late last week.  Daniel Bryan has also been vocal about not going, and I look for some type of angle tonight, that will get Bryan out of the trip.  I don’t blame any wrestler for not wanting to go there right now.  Especially someone like Cena who doesn’t need the pay-day, and I honestly think it would be detrimental to his acting career.  Hopefully it doesn’t strain the relationship that WWE and John Cena have.

Ronda Rousey vs Becky Lynch at Survivor Series

I giggled like a school girl when I heard about this match.  I have been clear that I am not a fan of Rousey as a WWE superstar.  Becky Lynch is as over as it gets right now.  I think this match will be the first loss for Ronda Rousey.  The match was announced almost in passing, which didn’t make much sence.  A match like this should be big news!  A match like this should have a contract signing.  But WWE is protecting Rousey again, because verbally and technically Becky will destroy Rousey.  It will be great to see the build to this match heat up.

Staying on the topic of women’s wrestling, there was a ten woman tag match last night that involved hall of famers Trish Stratus and Lita.  Natalya looked great in the match picking up the submission victory over Alicia Fox.  It would appear they are cooling the women off for a while, and will focus on the Champion vs Champion match for the next couple of weeks.

Baby-face Elias

Anyone else a fan of baby-face Elias?  I am so glad they turned him, and what a perfect heel target to start with in Baron Corbin.  Elias with guitar in hand was backstage to sing Corbin a song.  After the song, Corbin went back into his office, and Elias was attacked by Jinder Mahal.  This lead to a match between Elias and Mahal, which Elias won easily.  Mahal would appear to be enhancement talent once again.  Just one year ago he was WWE champion.  He will need to do something to get over.  Clearly the writers have nothing significant for him.

Triple threat tag match

Before the teams came out, I thought this is going to be great.  Ascension was already in the ring and then came Roode and Gable.  Gah!  I do not like this team.  Then AOP came out as the third team.  Roode and Gable picked up the win in about two minutes and then AOP beat everybody up.  Next time it would be better if they put something like this on Main Event so that I don’t have to watch it.  Sorry to be blunt, but give me a legit tag team division.

The tag team titles were not even on the show last night.  The championships in WWE have become irrelevant.  Seth Rollins hasn’t defended the IC title in quite some time, the U.S. title is nowhere to be seen and the RAW tag team titles have basically been thrown away.  They only titles that matter are the Women’s titles, WWE and Universal.  Sorry, went on a little rant.  But C’mon man, you can do better with those titles.

Rollins wants answers

Seth Rollins came to the ring wanting some answers last night.  Dean Ambrose did show up, but in the crowd.  Rollins went off on Ambrose verbally, but Amborse did not say a word.  Instead he paced back and forth and looked as if someone in the area farted.  There were no answers, just more build to what will be a long rivalry, I’m sure.  My biggest concern are the tag team titles.  Either give them up or set up some type of angle to get the belts from the former best friends.

Nia Jax

Nia Jax beat Ember Moon last night.  End of story.  Tamina came to the ring to have a stare down with Nia, but no altercation.  I wish they would turn Nia heel.  She is better as heel in my opinion.  Very lame as a face, and not that great on the mic.  Her backstage interview was very phone callish.  She’s very monotone and her mic work is lame.  I would turn her heel and not have her speak.  Keep her mysterious and strong.  That would make me more invested in Nia.  But show’s like Total Diva’s would ruin her mystique.  I get it may be another source of revenue for her, but if she really wanted to succeed as a wrestler, I wish she would be used differently.  Just my humble opinion.

More tag teams being buried

I am see a theme with today’s blog.  I am frustrated with RAW last night.  Especially the tag team division.  The Revival, who should be in a tag title picture was beat by the Lucha House Party?  Yes, I know that is a question mark at the end of the last sentence.  Where did they come from?  I will admit I haven’t watch 205 live since… um, ever.  So maybe it has been a faction for a while, but my first thought is, it’s a hispanic version of the New Day.  They could have been a little more original with the faction, but lame creative writing is to blame.

Ziggler beat Apollo Crews

This should tell you just how bad RAW was last night.  Dolph Ziggler vs Apollo Crews was the main event.  I am a huge Ziggler fan, but this is not a main event match.  I just don’t understand the entire RAW show last night.  Definitely a throw away RAW.

Sweet Chin Music is played

The only thing that could have saved RAW last night was an altercation between the Brothers of Destruction and DX.  Kane and Undertaker had a brief promo and DX came out at the end, but it was just Triple H.  Kane left the ring to attack Triple H, when Shawn Michaels came in and surprised the Undertaker with sweet chin music.  DX went on to taunt the Brothers of Destruction, before the Undertaker sat up in classic fashion and scared off DX.  This will lead to an easy prediction for the winner this Friday at Crown Jewel.  Spoiler alert, WWE is notorious for fifty-fifty booking.

I have to apologize for the negativity in today’s writing.  But I was honestly so bored watching RAW last night.  I watched a three-hour show in about an hour.  Hopefully, WWE steps up their game her soon.  I think that after Crown Jewel, WWE will be better.  I have the feeling that the consensus is that most people in WWE just want to get Crown Jewel over with.  It’s been a hard time to follow wrestling with all the different pay per views lately.  Super Show-Down, Evolution and Crown Jewel all within a month’s time.

My personal opinion on shows in Saudi Arabia, is why twice a year.  I think the Greatest Royal Rumble in April was a success, and they could have left it at that.  I don’t know the details of the deal between the WWE and Saudi Arabia, but if your going over there twice a year, I think it will burn people out on it.  Especially the wrestlers, Australia and now Saudi Arabia all within a month.  I am sure it is a big pay-day for them and I totally get it, you don’t want to miss out on that kind of pay.  And at the end of the day, I guess that answers my question.  It doesn’t matter the details of the deal, if it wasn’t lucrative for WWE, I don’t believe they would take their product over there.

I have also heard that WWE has announced that Daniel Bryan will not go to Saudi Arabia.  I heard it on Sirius XM fight nation 93 busted open this morning.  We will have to stay tuned to Smackdown Live tonight to see how WWE will tackle the situation.

Thanks for reading, and sorry for the negativity.  Hopefully Smackdown puts me in a better mood tonight.  Thanks for checking out and be sure to check out tomorrow’s Smackdown Live review.

Evolution Review

The first all women’s pay per view is in the books, and it was a success!  A card full of great matches, and a crowd that was into every match, made for a fun night.  A lot of legends of the past, the women of the present and even the future of women’s wrestling were all on display last night.  Although my predictions were not as accurate as I had hoped, I like a surprise and the women last night surprised me with what they could do.  A great opening with Nita Strauss playing the guitar better than most people can even dream about.  It was also great to see Beth Phoenix on commentary.  We also saw Lilian Garcia as a ring announcer for a couple matches.  That was before the matches even started.  So let’s get into the matches.

Trish & Lita still got it

Trish Stratus and Lita had a tag team match with Mickie James and Alicia Fox with the injured Alexa Bliss in their corner.  A pretty good match that went back and forth, but it was the hall of famers that picked up the win last night.  We were able to see all the classic moves from Trish and Lita, plus see them pick up a win.  A great way to start the show. pick: Trish and Lita  Winners: Trish and Lita (PPV prediction record: 9-2)

Women’s Battle Royal

The women’s battle royal was everything as advertised.  It was great to see all the women in the match get an entrance.  It was great to see the legends like Ivory, Molly Holly, Michelle McCool, Torrie Wilson, Maria Kanellis, Kelly Kelly, and Alundra Blaze.  This was a hard one to pick.  I would have liked to see Carmella win it, because she is moving up the popularity list very quick.  I had a feeling she wouldn’t win, and I played it safe with the pick of Asuka.  Asuka had a good showing, but it was not as good as Ember Moon and Nia Jax who were the last two in the match.  Nia eventually picked up the win and earned herself a shot at the RAW women’s championship. pick: Asuka  Winner: Nia Jax  (PPV prediction record: 9-3)

The Riott Squad vs Sasha Banks, Bayley and Natalya

A decent six woman tag match that had the Riott Squad in control for most of the match.  This was probably my least favorite match of the night.  It was also the match that I was looking forward to the least.  So my thoughts on the match were already there before the match started.  I was hoping they would change my mind, but they didn’t .  Sasha, Bayley and Natalya won as predicted. pick: Sasha, Bayley and Natalya  Winner: Sasha, Bayley and Natalya (PPV prediction record: 10-3)

Mae Young Classic Final

Toni Storm went one on one with Io Shirai with the winner being crowned the Mae Young Classic tournament winner.  In my opinion this was the best match of the night.  The women went back and forth displaying moves that you don’t typically see women do.  Io Shirai has one of the smoothest ariel move sets I have seen in a long time.  Toni Storm has a great look, with a great finisher.  A finisher that she needed to hit twice to get the win.  It will be interesting to see where these women go in their career.  I personally hope to see more from Toni Storm. pick: Toni Storm  Winner:  Toni Storm  (PPV prediction record 11-3)

NXT Women’s championship match

Shayna Baszler got her rematch for the NXT women’s championship against current champion Kairi Sane.  I am not a fan of Kairi’s pirate character.  I like her and the moves she displays, especially the flying elbow finisher.  It is just hard to buy a princess pirate as a champion.  Shayna Baszler on the other hand… she is a bonified bad ass, and a very believable champion.  Shayna was able to get some assistance from her friends in the match and eventually defeat Sane to regain the championship.  I don’t believe the assistance was needed, but it adds to the heel character that is Shayna Baszler. pick: Kairi Sane  Winner: Shayna Baszler (PPV prediction record 11-4)

Smackdown Women’s championship

First, let me get this off my chest.  Why?  Why was this match not the main event?  I get that WWE wants Rousey to be the face of the Women’s division, but I think long time hardcore fans like myself, are feeling a little forced to like Rousey.  Becky Lynch and Charlotte has had the biggest rivalry on the main roster for months.  We saw two, maybe three weeks of Nikki and Rousey build.  Another classic example of Smackdown champions not getting the love that RAW champions do, but I digress.

The last woman standing match for the Smackdown women’s championship did not disappoint.  I saw these two women do things that some men probably will not do.  The match was brutal, but in a good way.  Becky and Charlotte beat the ever-living out of each other.  Bumps on tables, ladders and chairs.  Leaps from ladders through tables, chair shots that hurt me to watch and a finish of a powerbomb from the second rope through a table on the floor!  Charlotte was not able to get to her feet before the ten count after that.  Becky won the match fair and square and although we didn’t see the double turn like I had hoped, the writers planted seeds of a legit Becky baby face.  Becky is loved by the crowd, and no matter who she is up against, she will be cheered.  A great match that went close to thirty minutes.  Well done, ladies, well done! pick:  Charlotte  Winner Becky Lynch (PPV prediction record: 11-5)

Rousey still undefeated

Another match from Rousey that made her look super strong.  After all that is the point right?  I was really hoping for Nikki Bella to win this match, although I know it would have been a major upset.  In my mind I had a plan as to how this would play out.  It was a stretch, but I was really hoping we would see a Baszler run in to cost Rousey the title.  But it was not the case and as predicted, although not by me, Rousey picked up the win in an ok match.  I was a little concerned with Nikki Bella’s neck as it looked at some point during the match that it was really bothering her.  But she was able to finish the match.  Rousey is still champion, but I wish she would develope her own character.  The Roddy Piper rip off, although blessed by Piper, is aggravating me.  Piper was a heel, probably the best ever!  If she is going to do it, do it as a heel, do it justice.  Rant over. pick: Nikki Bella  Winner: Ronda Rousey (PPV prediction record 11-6)

A historic night that didn’t disappoint on the wrestling.  The women brought it last night, really telling the men at Crown Jewel to “follow that.”  Crown Jewel will take place this Friday at noon.  And it WILL take place in Saudi Arabia.  However, WWE is still not promoting the location of the event on TV or on the pay per view last night.  It will be interesting to see how this plays out, as a couple of wrestlers have said they will not go to Saudi Arabia, including John Cena and Daniel Bryan.  Both who are playing major roles in the event.  I guess we will have to stay tuned to WWE to see how this plays out.  Also Friday morning, I will give my prediction for Crown Jewel, be sure to check it out.

I hope that Evolution was as enjoyable for you as it was me, and I know I can’t wait to see what happens on RAW tonight.  Check out tomorrow for my RAW review.  Thanks for reading!

Evolution predictions

The first ever all women’s pay per view will take place this Sunday, October 28 at 7:00 pm eastern time on the WWE network.  I have thought about the upcoming matches and everything leading up to them, so I am prepared to give my predictions on this monumental show.

This will only be the second pay per view since started.  My predictions for Super Show-down in Australia were pretty close to spot on.  So my overall record for picking pay per view matches correctly is: 8-2.  So if you don’t like spoilers quit reading now.  Just kidding, please keep reading and let’s take a look at my predictions.

The Riott Squad vs Sasha Banks, Bayley and Natalya

The six woman tag match should be a good one.  I look for the Riott Squad to be in control through most of the match.  Based on the lead up to Evolution and the short rivalry between the two teams, I am leaning more towards Sasha, Bayley and Natalya.  So officially I am calling it a win for Sasha, Bayley and Natalya. pick: Sasha Banks, Bayley and Natalya

Battle Royal match

So this is probably a guarantee miss on my prediction, but I will take a shot at it.  At first I wanted to pick a legend to win it, however I recently learned that the winner will get a future Women’s championship match.  So that basically eliminates the idea of a legend winning.  I can tell you my favorite in this match is Carmella, but I don’t think they she will win.  After looking at all the wrestlers in the match I am torn between Ember Moon, Asuka or Nia Jax.  It could be a surprise winner as well, to start a push for someone like, Dana Brooke, Zelina Vega or Lana.  But I think I will play it safe and go with Asuka. pick: Asuka

Mae Young Classic Finals

Truthfully I have not followed the Mae Young classic tournament.  I have done a little research on the finalist Toni Storm and Io Shirai.  Between the two I like Toni Storm and will make her my pick to win the Mae Young classic. pick: Toni Storm

Trish Stratus and Lita vs Mickie James and Alexa Bliss

This one is harder than it would appear.  It could go either way in my opinion.  There has been some question as to whether or not Alexa will be able to compete in the match.  It sounds as if she had suffered a concussion in the past week, and with a concussion it could be a day or two for recovery, or a month or two.  Sometimes they are a career ending injury.  Lets hope she is able to recover and can make it to the Evolution pay per view.  So as for my pick, it really depends on if Alexa will be there.  If Alexa is there I think her team will win, however if Alicia Fox replaces her, I like Trish and Lita.  I would guess that WWE would error on the side of caution and keep Alexa on the sidelines for this pay per view, and Alicia replace her.  So I look for Trish and Lita to pick up the win. pick: Trish Stratus and Lita

NXT Women’s Championship

Kairi Sane the current NXT women’s champion will put her title on the line against the dangerous Shayna Baszler.  I have my thoughts on what the future holds for Baszler, and that is why I think she will not regain the NXT championship this Sunday.  Keep reading to find out my thoughts on where Baszler is headed.  I don’t think it will take away from the match though.  There match at the last Takeover was amazing, and I look for this match to equal that level of greatness.  But at the end of the match, look for Sane to win it. pick: Kairi Sane

RAW Women’s Championship

The Bella’s, more specifically Nikki will challenge Ronda Rousey for the RAW Women’s championship at Evolution.  Ronda has been getting the better of the Bella’s in recent weeks verbally.  However, Ronda is in a match that is unlike any match she has been in before.  Yes I realize it is a singles match, but is it really?  We know that Brie will be at ringside and will be playing a major part in the pyschology of the match.  I personally think that Shayna Baszler will play the role as equalizer in the match.  There is a known friendship between Baszler and Rousey, but much like Amborse and Rollins on Monday night, I think we are in for a turn.  This is a long shot, but I have a feeling Baszler will turn on Rousey costing her the championship.  Setting up a rivalry between Baszler and Rousey.  So in my upset pick of the night Nikki Bella will be your new RAW women’s champion. pick: Nikki Bella

Smackdown Women’s Championship

If this match doesn’t close the show Sunday night, something is wrong with the WWE.  This has been one of the hottest rivalries on the main roster, and I don’t look for it to cool down at all this Sunday.  The match is the first ever last woman standing match on the main roster.  There are so many ways this could play out.  I have been saying for a solid month now that the writers should have a double turn in this match at this pay per view.  It’s the first ever all women’s pay per view, and we need a lot to talk about after the show is over.  I think we are going to see some great matches, but we need some great storylines coming out of it as well.  And obviously Charlotte vs Becky is already a great storyline, so why end it by having Becky win?  I say put the title on Charlotte and have her do a lot of heelish things in the match.  Becky could keep fighting and fighting showing that never give up spirit.  But at the end of the match Charlotte, goes full-blown heel and puts Becky down for the ten count.  This would give the crowd a reason to boo Charlotte and Becky would be cheered for good reason now.  That is what I would like to see, and I have a feeling we may see something like that.  My pick is for Charlotte to win. pick:  Charlotte

If Evolution plays out the way I hope, this has the potential to be one of the best pay per views of the year.  I think it’s great that WWE is giving all these opportunities for women in wrestling.  I think we are past the Evolution of women’s wrestling…it’s here!  Now give us some great storylines.  I am looking forward to watching the pay per view, and I will have a review on Monday morning.  Thanks for checking out and have a great weekend! Weekly top ten

An emotional week of wrestling with some shocking announcements and turns.  It was a challenge to come up with the top ten this week, because RAW was incredible and Smackdown was somewhat lame.  So here goes:

10. Rusev

Rusev was able to squash his beef with former friend Aiden English on Smackdown Live this week.  And I use the term squash deliberately as the match was quick and one-sided.  Lets see if this puts Rusev into some more serious storylines.

9. Big Show

Outside of his loss to Randy Orton in his return match a few weeks ago, Big Show has looked dominate.  He has aligned himself with The Bar and helped them win the Smackdown tag team titles, and put a beating on Kofi Kingston this past week.  Big Show, despite his size and age, can still go in the ring and I think he could compete for the WWE title very soon.

8. Drew McIntyre

Although he and Dolph Ziggler lost their tag team titles Monday night, he is looking very strong against Braun Strowman.  He has been getting the better of Strowman for the past two weeks hitting him with multiple Claymore kicks.  I wouldn’t be totally surprised if McIntyre cost Strowman the title at Crown Jewel.  Drew McIntyre will be a universal champion someday, it’s all but guaranteed.

7. Rey Mysterio

Rey Mysterio had another solid win on Smackdown this past Tuesday, making the top ten for the second week in a row.  Mysterio had a great match with The Miz and picked up a clean win against him with his six one nine finisher.  I think Rey will win his first match in the World Cup tournament, but I don’t think he will win the tournament.  I think after Crown Jewel he will go after Shinsuke Nakamura and the U.S. title.

6. Finn Balor

Are we finally going to see Finn Balor in a meaningful feud?  That would be great!  Monday night he went one on one with Bobby Lashley and picked up a big win.  Not a surprising win, because I think WWE is trying to get Balor back to a main event or high mid card wrestler.  I think a small feud with Lashley will get him right back on track.

5. The Uso’s

For the second week in a row, the Uso’s are in the top ten.  Another big win against AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan.  These guys should be in the tag team title picture and after a couple of wins against the WWE champion and the number one contender, you have to put them in consideration for the tag team championships.

4. Randy Orton

A mainstay on the top ten list is the one, the only… Randy Orton.  He has looked great as a heel lately and I think he will win the World Cup tournament at Crown Jewel.  I think the writers at Smackdown are slowly building Orton for a WWE title feud with AJ Styles very soon.  That is a rivalry I would love to see and their matches would be amazing.  Good work from Randy Orton lately!

3. Elias

Could we be on the verge of a fan favorite Elias?  Man, I hope so!  Elias is one of the most popular wrestlers on the roster, as a heel!  In what looked like an apparent baby face turn Monday night, Elias shattered his guitar over the back of Baron Corbin.  Not to mention a solid match and win against Apollo Crews.  Look for Elias to get a lot of cheers next Monday night.

2. Dean Ambrose

Dean Ambrose, what the hell did we see Monday night.  Dean Ambrose has been hinting at a heel turn for weeks now, and it finally happened Monday night.  Not only did he and Seth Rollins win the tag team titles Monday night in honor of Roman Reigns, he had everybody talking about him by the end of the night.  I think we all expected him to turn at some point, but not on that night.  He looked great as a heel, and he with that turn on Rollins will be the most hated guy in WWE.

1. Roman Reigns

You can’t help but feel for Roman Reigns right now.  He announced on Monday night that he will be stepping away from wrestling for a while due to being diagnosed with leukemia for a second time.  Unfortunate news, but Reigns is not letting it get him down and said he will be back very, very soon!  I am pulling for a return and I hope it’s sooner than later.  I will admit I was one of those fans who would boo Reigns and always hoped that WWE would turn him heel.  There is no question rather you loved or hated the character of Roman Reigns, that you can respect his work.  Best wishes and prayers to Roman Reigns and we will see you soon!

Let me know what you think of the top ten this week.  Tomorrow will give the predictions for Evolution.  Thanks for reading!
