WWE Extreme Rules emanated from Philadelphia last night, the birth place of extreme wrestling. Before the show kicked off I found out that WWE added two match to the card. That bing an intercontinental title match between Finn Balor and Shinsuke Nakamura and Kevin Owens versus Dolph Ziggler. So for extra points I will picked Balor and Owens. So how did Extreme Rules go? Please keep reading.

Intercontinental Championship Match

This match was added after my predictions post on Friday, so before the match I made the prediction that Finn Balor would win and retain his Intercontinental championship. But that was not to be the case as Nakamura came out of obscurity to win the prestigious championship.

Cruiserweight Championship Match

Tony Nese was given an opportunity to win back the cruiserweight championship. All he had to do was beat current champion and Philadelphia native Drew Gulak. This wasn’t your typical high flying cruiserweight match, it was more of a physical, technical match that ended with Gulak hitting his finisher for the win.

Drew McIntyre and Shane McMahon versus Roman Reigns and Undertaker

Shane McMahon and Drew McIntyre took on Roman Reigns and Undertaker in a no holds barred tag team match to start the actual pay per view. This was the perfect match to kick off Extreme Rules. A throwback from the Undertaker as he looked as good as he did twenty years ago. It was no question of who would win and as predicted Reigns and the Undertaker picked up the win.

RAW Tag Team Championship Match

The Revival put their titles on the line against The Uso’s for the RAW tag team championship. On paper this one is a tag team wrestling fans dream. And although the Philadelphia crowd didn’t seem to be into it so much, I personally loved the match. After a clinic of a tag team match The Revival hit the Shatter Machine double team finisher for the win.

Cesaro versus Aleister Black

Cesaro has been a staple in WWE for quite sometime now and it would appear his new role is that of a gatekeeper for new talent. This weeks new talent is Aleister Black. I must say to this point of the pay per view this was by far the best match. After a physical striking match Aleister Black hit Cesaro with a black mass kick for the win.

Smackdown Women’s Championship Match

The handicap match was the stipulation that Nikki Cross chose for this one and she teamed with Alexa Bliss to take on Bayley for the championship. Even though it was two on one, Bayley was able to over come the odds as she hit Nikki Cross with a flying elbow drop and pick up the win.

Braun Strowman versus Bobby Lashley

These two behemoths went at it again, this time in a last man standing match. This was a match that resembled an old school hardcore match from the attitude era. After a lengthy physical match, it was a power slam from Strowman off a balcony and through a custom box to the floor that was enough to keep Lashley down for the ten count.

Smackdown Tag Team Championship Match

Big E and Xavier Woods of the New Day took on Otis and Tucker of Heavy Machinery as well as current Smackdown tag team champions Daniel Bryan and Rowan. This was a really fun match to watch. Just as it looked as if Heavy Machinery was going to win their first tag team championship, no. Then it looked as if Daniel Bryan and Rowan were going to retain, but the New Day came out of nowhere to win the match and the Smackdown tag team championships for the sixth time.

United States Championship Match

AJ Styles, with Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson in his corner, took on Ricochet for the United States Championship. Before the match even started Ricochet was attacked by Gallows and Anderson. This match was incredible back and forth, high flying and full of false finishes. In the end Styles was helped by his Club members and was able to hit Styles clash from the second rope to win his third United States championship.

Kevin Owens versus Dolph Ziggler

A match that was added to the pay per view late, during the pre show I picked Owens to win, even though I am a huge Dolph Ziggler fan. And true to form in less than a minute Ziggler lost after Owens nailed him with a stunner. An easy win for Kevin Owens and myself.

WWE Championship Match

The improbable lengthy run of Kofi Kingston as WWE Champion was in jeopardy as he took on Samoa Joe. A fairly short match that spent most of the time focusing on the middle finger of Kofi Kingston. In the end it was Kofi who hit a trouble in paradise kick to win and retain his championship.

Winner Take All Match

Baron Corbin and Lacey Evans got an opportunity at the Universal and RAW women’s championship in and unconventional match. An inter gender tag match against Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch, where if either Corbin or Evans pick up the win, they both become champion. After a pretty physical match where Corbin hit Becky Lynch with his finisher, Rollins went crazy and hit Corbin with a barrage of kendo sticks, chairs and three curb stomps Rollins and Lynch win the match.

Money In The Bank Cash In

After Rollins and Lynch picked up the win Brock Lesnar made his way to the ring and cashed in his money in the bank briefcase on Seth Rollins to become a three time Universal champion.
