GoHomePWB.com Weekly top ten

An emotional week of wrestling with some shocking announcements and turns.  It was a challenge to come up with the top ten this week, because RAW was incredible and Smackdown was somewhat lame.  So here goes:

10. Rusev

Rusev was able to squash his beef with former friend Aiden English on Smackdown Live this week.  And I use the term squash deliberately as the match was quick and one-sided.  Lets see if this puts Rusev into some more serious storylines.

9. Big Show

Outside of his loss to Randy Orton in his return match a few weeks ago, Big Show has looked dominate.  He has aligned himself with The Bar and helped them win the Smackdown tag team titles, and put a beating on Kofi Kingston this past week.  Big Show, despite his size and age, can still go in the ring and I think he could compete for the WWE title very soon.

8. Drew McIntyre

Although he and Dolph Ziggler lost their tag team titles Monday night, he is looking very strong against Braun Strowman.  He has been getting the better of Strowman for the past two weeks hitting him with multiple Claymore kicks.  I wouldn’t be totally surprised if McIntyre cost Strowman the title at Crown Jewel.  Drew McIntyre will be a universal champion someday, it’s all but guaranteed.

7. Rey Mysterio

Rey Mysterio had another solid win on Smackdown this past Tuesday, making the top ten for the second week in a row.  Mysterio had a great match with The Miz and picked up a clean win against him with his six one nine finisher.  I think Rey will win his first match in the World Cup tournament, but I don’t think he will win the tournament.  I think after Crown Jewel he will go after Shinsuke Nakamura and the U.S. title.

6. Finn Balor

Are we finally going to see Finn Balor in a meaningful feud?  That would be great!  Monday night he went one on one with Bobby Lashley and picked up a big win.  Not a surprising win, because I think WWE is trying to get Balor back to a main event or high mid card wrestler.  I think a small feud with Lashley will get him right back on track.

5. The Uso’s

For the second week in a row, the Uso’s are in the top ten.  Another big win against AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan.  These guys should be in the tag team title picture and after a couple of wins against the WWE champion and the number one contender, you have to put them in consideration for the tag team championships.

4. Randy Orton

A mainstay on the top ten list is the one, the only… Randy Orton.  He has looked great as a heel lately and I think he will win the World Cup tournament at Crown Jewel.  I think the writers at Smackdown are slowly building Orton for a WWE title feud with AJ Styles very soon.  That is a rivalry I would love to see and their matches would be amazing.  Good work from Randy Orton lately!

3. Elias

Could we be on the verge of a fan favorite Elias?  Man, I hope so!  Elias is one of the most popular wrestlers on the roster, as a heel!  In what looked like an apparent baby face turn Monday night, Elias shattered his guitar over the back of Baron Corbin.  Not to mention a solid match and win against Apollo Crews.  Look for Elias to get a lot of cheers next Monday night.

2. Dean Ambrose

Dean Ambrose, what the hell did we see Monday night.  Dean Ambrose has been hinting at a heel turn for weeks now, and it finally happened Monday night.  Not only did he and Seth Rollins win the tag team titles Monday night in honor of Roman Reigns, he had everybody talking about him by the end of the night.  I think we all expected him to turn at some point, but not on that night.  He looked great as a heel, and he with that turn on Rollins will be the most hated guy in WWE.

1. Roman Reigns

You can’t help but feel for Roman Reigns right now.  He announced on Monday night that he will be stepping away from wrestling for a while due to being diagnosed with leukemia for a second time.  Unfortunate news, but Reigns is not letting it get him down and said he will be back very, very soon!  I am pulling for a return and I hope it’s sooner than later.  I will admit I was one of those fans who would boo Reigns and always hoped that WWE would turn him heel.  There is no question rather you loved or hated the character of Roman Reigns, that you can respect his work.  Best wishes and prayers to Roman Reigns and we will see you soon!

Let me know what you think of the top ten this week.  Tomorrow gohomepwb.com will give the predictions for Evolution.  Thanks for reading!

GoHomePWB.com Weekly WWE Top Ten

There are a lot of honorable mentions this week, especially with Smackdown Live airing episode one thousand.  But after much thought I have narrowed it down to ten.  Five from RAW and five from Smackdown Live.  So let’s get to it.

10. Drew McIntyre

Although McIntyre lost his World Cup qualifier match, he showed us a lot at the close of the show Monday night when he knocked the monster among men off his feet with the Claiborne kick.  He is going to be a player for the Universal title very soon.

9. Braun Strowman

It would appear as if Braun Strowman is done with Ziggler and McIntyre after he put Ziggler in his finisher Monday night.  I think we all knew it was a matter of time before this faction split.  It would better suite WWE to have Strowman as a babyface.  But if he does turn face again, don’t expect him to win the Universal title until Wrestlemania.  But at least we get the real Braun Strowman back.

8. Edge

That’s right, go ahead and hate on it, but I have Edge at number eight.  The guy looks great and I think if it wasn’t for his neck injury he could still go.  He still has great mic skills and I think if Edge wanted to the WWE could use him in a GM role.  I don’t think that will happen, but one could hope.  So because Edge is one of my all time favorites, he made the list!

7. Dolph Ziggler

Dolph Ziggler comes in at number seven this week.  He won his World Cup qualifier match against Dean Ambrose and then went on to wrestle again in the main event of RAW.  Not only did he take a triple powerbomb from The Shield, he also took a running powerslam from Strowman.  So perhaps it’s a pity ranking, but nonetheless he is number seven this week.

6. Seth Rollins

Number six this week is the Intercontental champion Seth Rollins.  He was able to beat Drew McIntyre to qualify for the World Cup tournament at Crown Jewel, all be it by a count out.  A singles win against McIntyre in any capacity is huge right now.  He then went on to wrestle for a second time in the Main Event of RAW where he was on the winning side of the six man tag between The Shield and Strowman, Ziggler and McIntyre.  I would anticipate Rollins making a decent run in the World Cup tournament.

5. The Uso’s

The Uso’s out of nowhere picked up a big win against WWE champion AJ Styles and number one contender for the WWE title, Daniel Bryan.  Granted Styles and Bryan are not a tag team, but together you could assume they are a force to be reckoned with.  However, they were no match for the tag team specialists Jey and Jimmy Uso.

4. Becky Lynch

Becky Lynch has been a mainstay on the weekly top ten since I started it a few weeks ago.  She continues to impress week after week and is a deserving champion.  Although no match this week, she was able to bury WWE Hall of Famer Edge verbally on Smackdown Live one thousand.  Her mic work, attitude and new look is very popular amongst the WWE Universe and I have to admit, I am a mark for Becky as well.

3. Rhonda Rousey

Not to be out done on the mic by the blue brands womens champion, is RAW womens champion Rhonda Rousey.  Her mic work on Monday night was amazing!  The Bella twins were put in there place by Rousey.  Rousey is doing much better in the ring than I expected, but her mic work always made me nervous for her.  Monday night she killed it and that’s why she is number three this week.

2. The Bar

The Bar is quietly becoming one of the most decorated tag teams of all time.  On Tuesday night they became five time tag team champions.  Granted with the help of the Big Show, which leaves me curious as to his role with the team.  Cesaro even took a nasty bump that looked as if it knocked him out briefly, or it was just a great sell.  But congratulations to The Bar!  New Smackdown tag team champions.

1. Rey Mysterio

The return of Rey Mysterio was a successful one.  He was able to beat U.S. champion Shinsuke Nakamura on Tuesday night to secure the last spot in the World Cup tournament.  Rey Mysterio looks better now than he did five or ten years ago.  Hopefully he has a great run with the WWE, and stays healthy.

That’s my top ten for this week.  Let me know what you think by liking or commenting on this blog.  As always thanks for checking out gohomepwb.com

Weekly WWE top ten

RAW and Smackdown have come and gone and I have compiled my week to week top ten list.  So here goes…

10. The Bella Twins

After picking up victories on Saturday at Super Show-Down and Monday night RAW this week, the Bella’s were already on a roll.  Granted, Rhonda Rousey was the member of the six woman team that actually won the match for the team, but the Bella’s had everyone talking about them after turning on Rousey Monday night.  Look for Nikki to challenge for the WWE title at Evolution, or perhaps a handicap match for the Women’s title.

9. Charlotte

Charlotte has been in the middle of one of the hottest feuds in all of WWE right now.  Her work with Becky Lynch is amazing.  She is able to do things that a lot of other superstars, including men, can’t do in the ring.  Winning via DQ on Saturday and spearing Becky through the L.E.D. entry on Tuesday has earned her a spot on this weeks top ten list.

8. A.O.P.

A.O.P. didn’t even have a match on Saturday or Monday, but they made an impact when they came to the ring after the Roode/Gable vs Ascension match.  The decimated both teams with ease and are catapulting themselves up the ranks in the tag team division.

7. Randy Orton

Randy Orton continues to dominate his competition.  This week taking on the returning Big Show in a one on one contest for a spot in the World Cup tournament.  He had a convincing win against the Big Show, only relying once on heel tactic to pick up the victory.

6. Becky Lynch

Although Becky came up short on Saturday and wrestled to a double count out on Tuesday, the simple fact that she is the Smackdown Women’s Champion and the most popular superstar on Smackdown, is enough to earn a spot on the top ten list.  She is the most popular superstar on Smackdown despite being a heel.  Both Becky and Charlotte made the list this week because their rivalry is so hot right now.  I am still hoping for a double turn at evolution, but am losing optimism that it will happen.  Either way, this has been a great storyline.

5. Jeff Hardy

In his first match since his incredibly dangerous bump in the Hell in the Cell, Hardy picked up a surprise victory (in my opinion) over Samoa Joe.  Samoa Joe was still nursing a knee injury that he sustained at Super Show-Down at the hands of AJ Styles.  The injured knee was the focus for Jeff Hardy as he went after it every chance he had.  The referee stopped the match due to Samoa Joe’s injury giving Hardy the victory.

4. Drew McIntyre

Drew McIntyre comes it at number four after getting the pinfall win on Dean Amborse Monday night.  It was seems like a never-ending feud between Strowman, Ziggler and McIntyre vs the Shield, McIntyre has looked strong throughout.  Once his tag team title run with Ziggler is over, look for McIntyre to go after the Universal title.

3. DX

If I would have told you a month ago, that DX would be on my top ten list, you would have laughed at me, hell, I would have laughed at myself!  But, yes, you read that right.  Shawn Michaels and Triple H have reunited for what is most likely a one night only match against Kane and The Undertaker.  Yes, you also read that correctly, and the teenage version of myself is going crazy for this match.  It has been twenty-one years since DX was established and aside from less hair, the duo looks great!  Let’s hope over the next few weeks until Crowned Jewel that we get some of those old-fashioned DX schenanagans.

2. Bobby Lashley

Thank God!  This is the Bobby Lashley that I wished we had seen to begin with.  Since his return to the WWE in April, Lashley has been used in meaningless storylines, and quite honestly embarrassing segments.  Now with the heel turn, perhaps we can get that no-nonsense badass that we hoped we were getting in April.  Can’t wait to see the carnage Lashley will produce as heel.

1. AJ Styles

And this weeks number one goes to The Phenomenal AJ Styles.  His submission victory over Samoa Joe on Saturday and a solid win Tuesday against Shelton Benjamin makes him my clear-cut number one.  Not to mention he has been your WWE champion for nearly a year now.  AJ always delivers and I know I am looking forward to a great match with Daniel Bryan at Crowned Jewel.

That’s it for this week, let me know what you think.  Did I get it right or did I snub a few superstars?  Speaking of snubs, on Friday I will give my thoughts on the wrestlers that didn’t make cut for WWE 2K19.

My first weekly WWE top ten rankings

First, let me say thank you for all of you who are following my blog!

After watching RAW and Smackdown Live this week, I have compiled my top ten rankings of the superstars on the shows.  Five from RAW and five from Smackdown Live.  I will list them from ten to one.  So, here goes!

10. Shelton Benjamin

At number 10, Shelton Benjamin.  He went from me wondering if he was even employed with WWE, to picking up a huge win over Daniel Bryan.  Although, with a little help from The Miz, but nonetheless a win.  Good for Benjamin, lets hope this leads to more TV time.

9. The Bar

The Bar is on the list for simply cutting short the New Day segment.  Usually, I really enjoy the New Day, but I wasn’t really interested in what they were doing last Tuesday night.  The Bar is great individually, but as a team unreal!  My hope is that they take the titles from the New Day this Saturday, but you will have to check out gohomepwb.com tomorrow for my predictions.

8. Konnor

Nope, that is not a mistake.  Konnor has been on a two-week winning streak.  Which may be the longest of his main roster career.  His wins over Chad Gable and Bobby Roode in the past couple of weeks, has really helped the Ascension and more specifically Konnor get noticed.  I wouldn’t be surprised if Konnor went on to a singles run very soon.

7. The Fabulous Truth

The Fabulous Truth have been on a roll as well lately.  A very entertaining one and done Truth TV last week and a big win over Almas and Vega on Tuesday night.  The crowd loves this pairing and I do too.  A well deserved spot on my weekly top ten!

6. Drew McIntyre

Drew McIntyre is as Mark Henry puts it “a grown-ass man”.  He had a big win over the Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins on Monday night.  A near clean win, but Dolph Ziggler did run down for a distraction that allowed McIntyre to hit the Claiborne kick for the win.  Even without a Ziggler distraction, I think Drew McIntyre would have won.

5. Elias

At number five, a man who didn’t even have a match.  Elias with one sentence had a Seattle crowd ready to jump the barricade and beat the ever-living out of him.  I really like Elias, but I would like to see him in a title picture soon.  I get it, right now he doesn’t need a title, but it would still be nice to see him in a meaningful feud.

4. Roman Reigns

A probable main stay on the weekly top ten, as he never loses.  He had a clean victory of Dolph Ziggler last Monday in a great match.  Granted I think Ziggler carried him, and the crowd was starting to boo Reigns halfway through the match, Reigns did pick up the win and the crowd cheered the victory.  The Universal champion is probably going to hold the title for quite some time.

3. Randy Orton

Randy Orton has revitalized his career.  A year ago, as a face, although feuding with Jinder Mahal for the WWE title, his work felt forced and lame.  Give me Orton as a heel any day.  His work with Hardy was great, and now Tye Dillinger is great!  I’ve said it before and still feel this way, he is doing attitude era type heel tactics, and I love it.

2. Undertaker

I had a tough decision to make for number one and two on the list.  But at a close second this week, the one and only Undertaker!  He came out as a surprise on Monday night, and with his brother Kane, put a whooping on Shawn Michaels and Triple H.  I just had an attitude era flash back!  I love this angle, and I know it’s the last time ever this Saturday, but I can’t wait to see what will be a bittersweet match.

1. Becky Lynch

Is there anyone hotter in the WWE than Becky Lynch?  Take that anyway you want, but I am talking more about her work, as to her looks.  She is probably the most popular wrestler on the roster right now.  And she is supposed to be a heel!  Let’s hope that double turn I have been calling happens soon and we see Becky get the cheers as a face.  It should be a great match between Becky and Charlotte this Saturday.  Tune in tomorrow for my predictions on the match.

That’s it, my top ten for the this week.  Let me know what you think.  Check out gohomepwb.com tomorrow for my Super Show-Down predictions.
